Lisbon is Portugal’s capital, set where the Tagus river meets the Atlantic on the country’s west coast.

Known for its miradouros, trams, tiled façades and mild climate, Lisbon works as a city break, a food destination and a base for day trips to Sintra, Cascais and the Arrábida coast, year-round.

The city covers about 100 km² and has around 550,000 residents, with close to three million in the metropolitan area.

Flights to Lisbon arrive at Humberto Delgado Airport (LIS), commonly known as Lisbon Airport or Portela. The airport sits within the city, about 7 km from the centre, with metro, bus and taxi connections straight from the terminal.
